Lake Geneva, Wisconsin - A long weekend

I don't know if anyone else can agree with me on this but I feel like 2015 has been an AWESOME year so far but for me, it's already been pretty stressful. Since I took my business to the next level as a full time Wedding Photographer, I have found it much harder to relax, stop working and enjoy life (which for me is actually quite serious!). I have always been the kind of person that finds a lot of solace and enjoyment from work, loving every single second of the process... but lately, I am taking on more work, getting my "perfectionist" on and really becoming more of a workaholic than I have ever been. I thought I was a workaholic before when I was working two full times jobs but little did I know that it could get worse!

That being said, I decided that I needed a long weekend of rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, I was shooting quite a bit over the Memorial Day weekend so I went with the popular second choice of.. the weekend after. I thought it would be perfect since the resorts would be crowded, the beaches would be open and summer would be in full swing. Little did I know that the temp would range around 55-65 degrees for the whole weekend and that I would have to make a timely run to Wal-mart for a hoodie since I neglected to bring anything better than a shrug sweater. Rene', my fiance, and I still made the best of it though.

We stayed at The Abbey Resort, which is a gorgeous resort located in Fontana, Wisconsin, just outside of Lake Geneva. I had found this place through a Groupon ad actually and thought it would be fun to try. Little did I know that this place would be no less than amazing! The property is large and spacious with so many amenities! On the resort there are two restaurants, a bar, a cafe, an arcade, several pools (both indoor and out), fire pits, a spa...the list seemed endless! Plus while we stayed there were weddings going on at the resort but because it is so large, we never encountered any of the wedding party or guests. I definitely would recommend this place as a weekend or even week log getaway. It was a really beautiful place and also really fun.

By Sunday, the weather started to get a little better so we were able to venture out to the Lake Geneva downtown area which was a blast. Rene' had been there in the past but I had never so I was pretty excited about doing some shopping, eating and enjoying of this sweet, little town. The weather played to our advantage now because the streets and shops were not as busy, so that was a welcomed treat! We strolled up and down the streets, stopping at shop after shop, purchasing maybe a little too much...maybe.

We finally made it down to the water were we enjoyed a little snack and then snapped a selfie (which is a lot easier said than done when you are working with a giant camera, not a phone!). All in all, it was a great weekend and I couldn't be more rested and relaxed from it. :)
