My grandma, my mom's mom, turned 88 last week and I had the opportunity to go out to lunch with both her and my mom. There are probably no other people in the world that I am most like so when we get together that means two things - we get loud and we get rowdy! 

Thinking back over the almost 30 years that I have known my grandma, and listening to her talk about the 50 something years that I know nothing about (prior to me being a thought), it makes me think about life, legacy and the beauty of love. My grandma came from a family that, like so many others, struggled a great deal during that The Great Depression. Due to a lack of financial means she and some of her siblings were sent to an orphanage and my grandma stayed there until she was of age. In her early twenties she married a man and over the course of the next 40 years built a life together, having 4 children (my mom being the youngest of the 4). Her life has been fulled with so many happy times, so many sad times, so much gain, so much loss... but from my eyes, it is clear that the overarching theme is so MUCH love. 

I could sit back for hours and tell you about all of the wonderful stories that she has shared with me, and literally WITH me (as my partner in crime) but as I sit here right now, I am compelled to say that I can only hope that I have as much grace, as much love, and as much blessing when I am 88 years old. My grandma (Bomma as I have been calling her since I could speak) will leave a rich legacy someday, because she builds it every single day. She is a Godly woman that prays for her family daily, calls her family, loves her family and that her family cherishes in return.

We got a yummy lunch at Flossmoor Station in Flossmoor, Illinois. It was a fun little place and the sandwiches were outstanding!
